I am in a private dwelling & have not rented for more than 20 years. No real estate agent I know uses an interstate company to test/replace smoke alarm batteries. These are checked with inspections if necessary. Rental properties must have wired in smoke alarms which have a warning signal when the batteries are low.

I don't think they are legit. They called me & I am not in a rental & haven't been in a rental for 20+ years. I think it's a scam to get you to either send them money (for alarm batteries that you will not receive), or to get your personal details. Smoke alarm batteries in a rental would be managed by the property managers/real estate agent. Plus smoke alarms in rentals need to be wired in, & they beep when batteries are low.

Definitely legit company not a scam. They change the batteries in my smoke detectors every year, even the wired in ones which have battery back up.

For the last 5 years these total morons have contacted me to change the battery in the smoke alarms of my rental property. Every year over a period of 6 months, they continue to harrass me for an appointment during my working hours. Every year I remind them that they have a note on their files that I work full time and if they must change the batteries, they need to do it on a weekend. Every year, at around 8 months since the start of the phone call marathon/harrassment, they eventually make a weekend appointment. Then within 6 months of being changed by their child labour staff members their cheap little batteries fail, usually at some ungodly hour of the night resulting in me having to find the ladder, grab the alarm and remove their cheap little battery. The next morning I have to purchase some decent batteries to replace theirs. Every damned year this load of crap goes on. I have complained to the real estate and unfortunately they will not allow me to replace the batteries in the smoke alarms myself, they insist on using this substandard company to do it for them.

I received a dozen calls, messages and emails within a 24 hour period between my husband and myself. They were asked to contact us by the real estate to organise a smoke alarm test at our rental property. Despite the legitimacy, we were not impressed with their harassment! I would have happily organised a date if I had received one polite call. I let them wait six months before I was available for a visit. I hope that taught them a lesson in manners!
