My daughter regularly gets hangup calls to her phone and this is one of the numbers that does it. She is young and doesn’t even know her phone number to give it out- so we’re not sure how they got the number. We are based in NZ. I finally successfully answered a call from this number (we keep missing the call).. Someone with an American accent asked for a person- “Mr P*** **** Kelly”. I told the caller that no one by that name has the phone and he asked for as many details as he could, while I asked who he was and how he had the number. He wouldn’t respond. I reinforced that he was calling a 9yr old girl and only people intending on bothering 9yr old girls would call... he suddenly put me on hold until I gave up and hung up.

Seems to be some call centre, I can see more similar numbers (all the same range - 02802494xx, just last 2 or 3 digits different) reported here already - mostly as Credit Corp Financial Services, a debt collection service provider. No idea who is behind it, they left no message, no VM. I really don't answer unknown numbers, tried to dig some info about this number first on internet, but no luck so far. People did someone answer it? I have been using the ShouldIAnswer mobile application from these pages, works fine, can stop such calls and also a range of numbers (very usefull for call centres). No problems.
