Desperate for work after being made redundant from my job, & against my better judgement, I got a job with a debt collection agency in Newcastle NSW. I walked out within the first hour after hearing the cheering & seeing the high-fiving going on amongst the employees over "getting money from these losers" etc. One woman was bragging about how she squeezed $1000 out of an old age pensioner whose husband had just died- I realised that to work at one of these places a prerequisite is you must be a ruthless, dead-of-heart **** with no conscience whatsoever. Someone prepared to scare elderly pensioners into parting with their last $50 to put towards a $200 debt from a DVD hiring store 10 years ago they forgot they even had. I am embarrassed I even applied for the job let alone sat amongst them for an hour. But to get to my point- even if you do have an old outstanding debt, remember this- these companies buy old debts from various companies at a fraction of the price of the original debt, & then will attempt to claw back the original amount owed, NOT the much lower amount they paid for it. Ie you lost your job or your partner died & you unfortunately defaulted on a personal loan of $5000. You moved & eventually forgot about it. "X" company buys your debt from the lender for a bargain basement price of $1000. And then will do everything in their scope to attempt to get the full $5000, & make an obscene profit out of the personal suffering of another person. Block these calls, & if you have an outstanding debt, a better option is to contact the company you owe & organise a payment arrangement- they would rather get $20/week from you & have you take however long to pay than get nothing at all or only 20% of it via debt collection agency. Oh, & FYI- when they call you, they always attempt to get YOU to verify your own identity by giving them your full name, DOB, address & number etc. Umm dude YOU'RE the one who called so YOU give YOUR personal details to US!

Milton Graham Debt Collectors. Have had 6 missed calls, 3 text messages & 1 voicemail from them. Claiming I have an overdue toll road invoice, plus fees, they are trying to collect. I always pay my etag account & checked with City link. Invoice was covered by my last payment weeks ago.

I had missed call from number when I couldnt answer my phone. I tried calling the number which is a fucking HUGE mistake ???????????? Apperently, a lump sum I have ignore and not paid in the past WTF! As I requested to double check in their system, I waited on line for the response and they made mistake. All the aggressions and bad attitude that apparently I owned money and its there system mistake. No * apology and rude.. DO NOT ANSWER THIS BLOODY NUMBER,EVER!
