Delivery driver had to confirm birthdate to drop alcohol from Amazon. I didn't want to provide this info but it turned out to be legitimate. Amazon should think about doing this in a better way

I agree. It sounds scammy but it isn’t. The callers don’t seem to be well trained either. Almost missed my package because I wasn’t trusting the caller. Luckily the driver texted me with enough info to make me realise it was legit.

Amazon delivery but why do they have a fixed phone number while calling from a mobile just outside of my door! Weird!

They will have an app that they use to talk back to Amazon HQ over mobile data which dials out from an Amazon landline, allowing Amazon to both track when the drivers call customers, and to pay landline rates instead of mobile rates for the call.
