Amex Card Acceptance (Scam call) reported by


Guy called and asked if he could pay for membership with Amex, I said yeah mate. He said do I accept Amex, I said yeah for sure mate (I thought it was a scam call straight away). He said he would have to talk to his wife and he would call me back. I called the number listed and it went to a computer programmed voicemail.

Guy with a foreign accent called and said, If I came into your shop to buy blinds can I pay by credit card? Yes Can I pay with American Express? No we don't take Amex. Oh ok then thank you *click* Looks like they are ringing everyone... Area code on the number showed as NSW, and we are in QLD so rather strange call even without seeing everyone else's comments.

The man asked if we accept credit card, I said yes, then he asked if we took AMEX I said no. Then he said he will come in and make a payment. I thought this was strange as the number was calling from Sydney and I am located in MELB. then I see all these reviews and it is the same phone call to everyone. I'm afraid my account will get hacked!

Called wanting to know if we took credit card payment. When I said yes, he asked if we took amex. I replied that we did not and he then hung up. Very strange phone call. Man had an accent that I was not familiar with but spoke clear english.

I just had this same phone call! I thought it was so strange as he was calling from Sydney and he said he will come in and make a purchase to my shop.... I'm in Melbourne. I'm afraid my business account will get hacked now!

Man with a clear voice and possibly a slight American or Asian accent called and asked if I took AMEX. Replied "NO". He then asked if I took Mastercard or Visa. I replied 'YES". He said "Thank you". I asked who why he wanted to know and he said "Thank you" again and hung up. Rather strange. I called the number but it rings and goes to voicemail.

I got a similar call but he wanted to know if I took credit cards but only in person not over the phone and with ID. He did not like that and mumbled something under his breath and hung up.

Answered the phone, bloke with a bit of an accent asked if he could pay with a credit card, asked if we accept AMEX. We said no, he hung up. Weird.

PHONE CALL FROM A GUY WHO HAD A VERY ASIAN AMERICAN ACCENT ASKING IF WE ACCEPTED PAYMENT VIA CREDIT CARD OVER THE PHONE, I REPLIED WITH "YES, HOWEVER THERE IS A FEE FOR PURCHASES OVER $1000. HE THEN ASKED IF i TAKE AMEX, I REPLIED YES, HOWEVER THERE IS A LARGER FEE FOR AMEX. ASKED HIM WHAT HE WAS INTERESTED IN PURCHASING AND HE HUNG UP.
