“Optus Billing Department”. (Scam call) reported by Randowis

Caller claimed they were from “Optus Billing Department”. I am on the do no call register and not with optus

Fraudulent Optus Call (Scam call) reported by Sean

Caller claimed they were from “Optus Billing Department”. They were able to provide me with my Optus account information (plan name, contract length, monthly payment amount and also when my last bill was paid). They offered me a 50% discount per month but to get it, I had to give them my date of birth, which I said I would not give personal information over the phone. They said they couldn’t help me further if I wouldn’t give the account holders date of birth. I then contacted Optus directly and enquired about this offer and advised them what had happened on the phone call. Optus said that the call was most likely fraudulent as Optus had no record of any internal call logs from them to my number. Optus said that they may have been after many Optus login details. What really concerns me about all this is that the caller had my Optus account info, none of which I divulged on the call, which makes me feel that someone has hacked account info or someone internally has leaked or sold account information. If you get a similar call from this number claiming to be “Optus Billing Department”, be very cautious. Don’t divulge your personal information.
