Occupant tax fraud (Scam call) reported by LC
A lady with a heavy accent claimed her name was Jennifer Smith from the ATO, that 'someone at this address was under investigation from the Tax Office for tax fraud and this message shouldn't be ignored, that there was a warrant out". Seriously doubt the tax office would leave a message of this nature in light of Australian Privacy laws........ or so one would hope.......

It claims I have committed tax fraud and that a legal law suit is pending. I'm sorry, but I'm sure the ATO would have written to me first!

They rang me today. As soon as the message started on the answering machine I answered the call. It is obviously a recording because when I said hello the message kept on going. This is about the fifth or sixth time they have called. They called a couple of months ago as well. Something should be done about these dickheads.

I had a phone call from these people today .When I told them it was a scam they got very rude and abusive.......

They rang me today saying it was the ATO and that they were taking legal action against me . I rang the number and was abused when I told them it was a scam and that I was reporting them to fair trading.......
