Like the others who have commented I too received quite a threatening msg claiming they were from the ato in Canberra . Called back but no answer .. So yes guessing it's a scam

Just received message on answer phone from guy saying he was calling from ATO in Canberra and me or my retained lawyer must call this number back because of tax evasion and debts! Very aggressive and told me not to ignore the call. Honestly, do people really fall for these?!

Had a call and a text saying it was the CDPP and there was a case filed against me. My life is not that exciting :-)

Jules - Scam Call
American accent - left a message saying that they have a TAX Avoidance note against my name and that my lawyer or I had to contact them immediately. My accountant said a few of his clients have had similar messages and to ignore it. When I ring the number back - it is always engaged.

Received voice mail from this number demanding I call back to this number (which he said was ATO). I rang back because I knew it was BS as we've only had our phone for one day but the number given just rang out. Male caller with UK accent and threatening manner.

Caller from this number asked to speak to Ms surname and then proceeded to tell the person who answered the call that they were subject to legal action and needed some personal details. Following call from the number said they were from legal department of ATO but then hung up when asked for their name. Reported to ATO.

Left a message saying it was the ATO and they needed to speak to me about my supposed tax avoidance / evasion. Very dodgy.
