They called claiming my real eastate agent contacted them to inspect my smoke alarms. I recived no letter from my agent about the call. They had my address though and wanted to know when they could arrange to come around to look at my smoke alarm. They started asking when I was NOT at home so they could arrange a time for when I was at home. Yep, a scam. Said they were from Smoke Alarms Australia, but clearly had a Philippines accent. Seriously people, DO NOT give out your work hours to people you don't know.

The caller represented themselves as from Smoke Alarms Australia, except they could not provide me with the ABN, nor is this number listed with Telstra. The strata organises smoke alarm testing, not agents, and they send a letter with a time-block, because they do all apartments at once. I checked with our strata as we had tests done less than a year ago, and of course, there are none scheduled til later on in the year. SCAMMERS!

The company is legitimate, but the caller is misrepresenting themselves as being from them - couldn't provide the ABC. Legally, they have to send a letter, which the legitimate ones do, stating the time when they will be checking the whole building.

They did come to my house 3 years ago, arranged by the agent, all legit. But...I moved out of my rental property 2 years ago and now they are still calling me to arrange an inspection, claiming the agent has arranged it. Hello??? I'd say they were once legit now turned scammers

These Con Artists - Claim they have authority to enter your house to inspect a smoke alarm. They just don’t give up. BY LAW they require YOUR Authority! don't give it to them! Report them to your phone provider under breach The Privacy Act 1988 http://www.smokealarmsaustralia.com.au/privacy-statement sect 5 (they even say they need your consent). Warn everyone and share them to your face book as a company not to get mixed up with.

SCAM call claiming to be Smoke Alarms Australia (Scam call) reported by


BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!! The number claims to be from Smoke Alarms Australia and says that the real estate agent has asked them to set up a time for a fire inspection. I stated that the strata for my building has engaged a different provider to conduct fire inspections and refused to provide access. The person started arguing with me stating the landlord had already paid. I said that they could take it up with the real estate agent and hung up. They called again two days later attempting the same thing. This time I called the real estate agent to confirm and they said that they had already received an invoice for service from them despite the fact no such service has been provided because I refused to provide access. I have now been receiving non-stop texts from different mobile numbers from people claiming to be from SAA. I have made a formal complaint to SAA, which has a different contact number on its website, waiting to hear back.

They cannot be requested by landlords or real estates as I get these calls and I do not rent. I would be suspicious of these calls because they must be doing off their own bat drumming up business. I have been getting calls from them 4 times in December and today again. They state they are requested by the landlord to check my smoke alarms and try to set a time. I tell them I do not rent (which I don't) and they hang up until the next call I receive. I have stopped answering these calls. Telemarketing/scam I think.
