I too got this yesterday and today. I thought it was a scam as it was an automated voice and the ATO have more stringent rules about contacting you. I can imagine though, that it would scare anyone who was not more informed. Thank you to those people above who have started this inquiry.

Horrible experience - They mentioned that was the ATO Headquarters first they call me and left a message that I needed to returned the call, when I called them mentioned I was being audit and need to pay some money, I believe that it was the ATO and provided my Tax File number - Don't do that - Be careful. The man only knew my name, and had a wrong address - it did not add it. I reported this to the ATO who have their details.
