scam! be aware (Scam call) reported by Nika-lee

called my partners mums work, she has not worked there for two years and left a message with her old co worke trying to get information on my partner. said her name was Aliesha and to call immediately trying to fish for personal information about my partner. dont know how she found his mums old workplace number or even have their names. Call id from auzzie and we have never been there, we are kiwis. my mother in laws old collegue said that she gave no other info regarding what business she was calling from or for and said it was a very peculiar call. do not answer or call back.

Debt Collector Harassing Friends and Relatives (Debt collector) reported by Louise

Debt collectors calling me about a relative. It was my work number, and when I asked how they got it as we both have different surnames they said they have different rules. Wouldn't tell me where they were from so I could report them for breaching my privacy!

This person phoned me from Sydney on my land line number of my work place in RSA. First of all how did they get my worksplace number knowing my name completely? They asked about a relative of mine's contact number. Did not want to say where they are calling from and they need to contact the person relating business matters. Finding this very odd and surprised that found my details somewhere. Very suspicious

Unsolicited call looking for POSSIBLE relative (Debt collector) reported by Duff

Answered the call, (CALLER NEVER IDENTIFIED WHO THEY WERE OR WHO THEY WORK FOR - something about privacy) was asked if the caller could speak with a person UNKNOWN to me, was told that my number was left by this person whom I’ve never heard of as an alternate contact for this said person … I appears that just because they have a surname similar to mine these people thought they could chance their luck by calling me.

Asked me for contact details of a relative - yet didn’t give me their company name (supposedly for privacy reasons). I’m assuming that they guessed this person was a relative. Also were fishing for personal information. They will be calling back but I have blocked the number.
