ATO scam call (Scam call) reported by CutSnake

I actually didn't answer, but called back the missed number, and the guy started mumbling something about owing them money and the ATO. Recognised the scam immediately, called the guy a foul name, and hung up.

Say they are trying to claim undeclared tax. Something about a serious matter as I had avoided paying tax.

We have had these calls for several months claiming they are from CDPP in Canberra or the ATO, it varies. Initially it was a woman's voice, now a man, do not ring them back and do not give them any information. Very annoying.

Same claim as Sue reported. Fortunately or otherwise the Canadian/American accent person went to voice mail. It was such a crazy, stupid call that I naturally came here to check it out. Thanks to everyone putting their comments.

Said they were from ATO in Canberra stating tax evasion. Don't get sucked in to these low lifes. Don't give them any information. Say you already have a solictor on the case....
