Called me on 17 SEP 2019. I don't pickup calls from unknown numbers so didn't answer. However, I am a customer of Coles Credit Card and so don't know if it was a genuine product/services/marketing call from Coles CC.

Call from Coles financial services (credit card). Offering a low interest rate for 6 months. But first they made sure I could see the number they were calling from so I could call back if the phone call disconnected and asked if it was okay to record the phone conversation. Was very rude when I said I wasn't interested

They check you can see the phone number (which is for Coles financial services) BUT anyone can fake the phone number they call from when calling from a computer. So that seemed like a confidence trick! Then confirm your secret details ...SCAM!!!!!

Offer of "low interest package" (Scam call) reported by


Complete scam. Fast talking Indian caller who wanted me to have a "special low interest package" from Coles credit card. Dead give-away: "alright?" at end of each sentence. Mumbai call centre for sure. Did not waste time on it, as I know Coles is not offering any such deal. He tried to create some sense of legitimacy by asking if I could see the number on my mobile (as if THAT is any indicator) - alarm bells rang louder then. He kept talking over me as I told him I was not interested. So I hung up and checked here. No surprise to see similar reactions below.

I have a coles card and I think the problem is that an email with the offer of 11.9% fixed interest on quick cash from $500 up to your limit,to be paid seperate not affecting your card. They will send a cheque and you pay fixed monthly installments over 1 to 5 yrs. in the email it has a green 'request cash' button and you need to punch in a one-time pin they send to your ph. I would say the offer may be legit but the scammers are taking advantage of that. I just received a call from that number. I never answer and if no message I google the number and here I am. Hopefully coles card is onto it.

Verified with Coles FS and requested that they do not call to offer promotions. I still received the calls. When calling the number back, it says “not urgent and we will call back another time”. Very annoying,now blocked the number.

They wanted me to verify all my details but could not give me any, told them i wasnt giving out that information and i would call coles myself, so they gave me a website which is fake, and to call them back on the number they called me, ......

Sound like you gave them more of your valuable time than I did. Your experience was what I was expecting: fishing for credit card information. I am also a Coles Mastercard customer, but the call did not immediately try to identify my by conventional means - which all legitimate financial institutions will do. Well done on getting the website fall back, and checking it! Quite a sophisticated scam it seems.
