used my maiden name which i have been not known by for 8 years. Stated they were Wyndham Vacation resorts, i went no further to find out just said no thanks and hung up

Block it. Pure scam, "This call is from the Australian Taxation Office..." No, it isn't. People can be a robocaller or a live person behind it, this kind of scam mostly originates from USA, where this type of scam (someone calling on behalf of IRS - Internal Revenue Service, similar to ATO - Australian Taxation Office, https://www.ato.gov.au/) is very common. Block it, report it - police department is already checking this activity. Also, all ATO numbers begin with 13.
