I suspected it was a scam and much like the other comments, gave me this number and references, but couldn't tell me what kind of service I had with Telstra. I hung up and phone Telstra complaints to confirm it is in fact a scam.

This started with a call from 02 8250 8181 which was auto generated and lead to a option of 1 which switch through to Adam Blaze (an Indian so the last name was a trigger) who insisted he knew of a fault on my Telstra Line but when in fact Telstra is the carrier but not the deliverer of my services. When pressed to supply Testra's ABN or my customer number then the caller was persitant in supplying their ID number being BS8585 (perhaps the BS is for Bulls***). He then led me to check his details with his team at Telstra using the 03 90285595 number which had another Indian worker trying to pass themselves off as a technical team who wanted access to my internet to provide security which is not how Telstra operates. Once I started pushing back another voice came over the top and started rudely saying that I either want the service or not but he couldn't explain the service nor clearly validate where he was calling from. Now Testra is a lot of things but they never give you a take it or leave it option.

Exactly the same as several others from a supposed "Telstra" tech after the automated system played and put me through. Like below, my guy was Brian, but when I asked he had a different extension (D31860) and employee ID (236815) than the otehrs...must be lots of Brian's at Telstra (especially ones on the same number!). And like Vicki below, my internet isn't even with Telstra. I was "playing" with them to see how long I could drag him out, however I said I needed to go and asked for the number (he gave me this one). I didn't call back. If they call back I'll take a different approach and **** more here. BTW, I felt it was fake straight away, however I knew it for sure when the first "person" I spoke to said they were in Melbourne...obviously not actually from Telstra ;-)

He yelled at me to jump off a balcony for wasting his time and I called him back and he said he was called Brian. It was the same person everytime i called three times and evrery time they did this rude disrespectful words! I really think the police should get onto these people.

Telstra call to say that someone was hacking my internet, (Scam call) reported by


First there was a recorded message to tell me to hold on for a technician who would help block my ISP address from hackers who were already hacking my internet. Then another guy calling I think, from an internet phone came on and asked me to go to my computer so that he could guide me to "fix" the problem. I asked for a call back number and he gave me 03 90285595 and said his work ID is TL1415, name Samuel Smith! I told him I was at my computer and what did I need to do. He then said he would get his supervisor to come on the call to help, at which point I hung up the phone. I did not answer it when a few minutes later the phone rang again. This is occurring despite the fact that I have DO NOT CALL on my landlne.

Scam call from "Telstra" (Scam call) reported by


Received a call this morning from an apparent Telstra rep (ID: TL0063). I asked them for their number so I could ring back. The first number that called me was 03 4400 8027. They then gave me 03 9028 5595 to call back on which I did. Told me my Telstra internet was hacked & that it would be disconnected if I don't give them access to my computer. The ironic thing is, I don't even have a Telstra internet facility. Definitely a scam, just hang up if you get a call from any number that begins with 03 4400xx. No internet provider in Australia would ever play a pre-recorded message to advise that your internet was hacked.

Phoned on a private number stating there were problems with my step mothers IP address. I asked for verification they worked for Telstra and they gave me this number and a fake employee number. I phoned telstra on 132 200, they were very helpful and tried to call the number, there was no answer. I was advised by Telstra the employee number was fake. Additionally it would have been the internet provide who would call in this instance not Telstra. The scammer gave his name as Alex Langford and ID number as AL572. Hope this helps.

Telstra Internet Compromised (Scam call)- (Scam call) reported by


Got a call from 'Telstra' automatic voice message that was transferred to Indian sounding man. Call was supposedly regarding our internet and modem being compromised by international/overseas hackers. I asked for proof it was Telstra and got the name Adam Blaze with Telstra ID TL8585. He asked me to call 03 9028 55xx to prove he was from Telstra. I said I would call 9028 55xx and he insisted I call 03 first...even though I am in Victoria. Got both on line and told them I needed more proof as I thought they were a scam. I googled number and confirmed it. I eventually hung up with them protesting they were not a scam.

Took the time to go through this for once to see what their actual scam was and was patched through to "James Parker" from Melbourne Telstra Head Office Staff ID 0707. I had to get on with some real work by then and I was given this number to call back regarding my "compromised modem" and my visible IP address.

The call is initially a robotic voice claiming to be from a Telstra Technician area claiming that router had issues, Press ‘1’ to be transfer to a Telstra Technical department or 2 to hang up. When answered I told him it was a scam and he wasn't telstra and he asked was I working for telstra. I asked for his number (03) 90285595 or +61 3 90285595. he then asked how i knew it was a scam which i said i wouldn't tell him so he couldn't close the gaps in his scam. strung him along to waste their time.

The call is initially a robotic voice claiming to be from a Telstra Technician area claiming that you internet connect has been breached Press ‘1’ to be transfer to a Telstra Technical department An Indian individual is the transferred to you – they spend about 15mins of their time trying to get you to falsely believe that your computer has been breached by criminals. Once you believe that they offer to fix it with www.teamviewer.com or www.anydesk.com They then try to infiltrate your PC and steal login and cause corruption to your hard drive Obviously Hang up immediately or string them along to waste their time.

Female Indian woman called Nancy saying security was breached and security on the internet and computer needed to be updated. She claimed to be in Australia. Her ID was 8600055. She also claimed to want to stay on the line when we called this number 0390285595. Also said she was going to transfer us to one of the technicians to fix our issue. Do not fall for it, call up local telstra and report the number to them.

Said there was unusual activity on my internet account and we could be disconnected if not investigated. Wanted me to pay for security, said I was not interested so they said I could be disconnected. Told them it was a government agency they had rang, he then said it wouldn't be a problem, sorry for disturbing me and hung up the phone.
