Illegitimate Phone Call (Scam call) reported by Steve
Claimed to be from Telstra and said my internet was going to be disconnected in 2 days because there was malicious data being transmitted to my server. I told them my internet isn't with Telstra and they said they knew I was with Optus but the line is with Telstra. They wanted me to turn my PC on and they were going to walk me through some security settings. I told them this felt like an illegitimate phone call and that I would call Optus myself to check before proceeding with him. Asked him to call me back. He gave the name Peter Wilson. I called Optus and they said my service is fine and that Telstra would never call me about this service.

Claimed to be from Telstra technical department/internet team. He said his name was Mark Wilson and his ID number was #SIP8005. Wanted me to look at my computer as there was an internet line issue and he wanted to get remote access to it. So dodgy!

Claim to be from Telstra technical department (Scam call) reported by Fred
Claimed that one of my computers sending compromised traffic to the internet, and wanted to remotely connect to my device so that they could diagnose and fix it. Told them that I didn't use Telstra for my broadband connection, so they said that Telstra provides the "mother internet" for all of Australia and they were here to help me. If they call you, get rid of them!
