Mastercard security impersonator (Scam call) reported by AUK
I just had a call from a young gentleman with a sub-continental accent, apparently from mobile phone number 0435 498 531, claiming to be from Mastercard security. There was typical call centre noise in the background. Also there was a tell-tale pause between me picking up the phone and him starting to talk with me. (This is because of their systems which dial multiple numbers simultaneously and connect to the first one that answers.) I told him that I would call the police immediately. He then used the most offensive US-style insults to refer to my mother. (Too obscene for me to quote!) After a couple of sentences of this abuse I put the phone down on the table, and eventually he apparently ran out of vocabulary and hung up. Genuine Mastercard security people do not heap obscene insults on people's mothers. Maybe the caller ID was spoofed. I don't know.
