Answered the call and was told it was ‘in regards to my Englert account’ I was apparently using ‘on my phone’, however I don’t pay any energy company nor am I registered to one so I hung up on him.

Fake prize from "Val Lewis"."Sending Google mini".Digging 4 info. (Scam call) reported by


Knew a LOT of my info. Said they were calling on behalf of "Val Lewis". Asked who Val Lewis was and was told it was about a survey I'd taken (sometime in the past 12 months) that had prizes of an iPhone or $1000 Woolworths voucher, and this was a congratulatory phonecall to inform me that they were sending me a Google Mini, as they were doing with all the homeowners and mortgage payers "in your area", and does that still apply to me. I replied "no" and she apologised and said that she was unsure how my number had ended up on the database "it must have slipped through" but she'd remove it straight away. Caller was young, female, and sounded like the stereotypical "caucasian australian female". She was also very friendly and polite. Blocked the number straight away. I'm on the "Do not call Register" and my calls are ALL recorded with ACR app.

Callers working for a company called Belouis.com.au (and investment group) going off a script trying to tell me I'd entered a competition to win iphone/holiday/cash etc, All lies! spoke to supervisor who confirmed they purchased all of my data from Lead Generation Group called 'EMBR'. However they had 7yr old information (maiden name/ old location). Callers are deliberately misleading, rude and follow a new lie on the script when you catch them out in the old one. My advice, automatically ask to speak to a supervisor, take supervisors name and title within the call centre, ask for business details/website/abn and then ask to be taken off the data base and to not call again.

Told me i had won a competition that I entered online (I don't enter competitions). Knew my full name, told me the call was being recorded and caller didn't have an accent. Tried to guess my age group (incorrectly) and once I said no she said I was uneligible for the "prize" and hung up. Once of the more believable scams.

Claimed I entered a draw to win a iPhone or shopping spree and had to fill out a survey. Advised that I would be entered into another draw for financial service. Knew my full name. The telemarketer was surprisingly polite and advised that they would take me off list.

I am on the Do Not Call Register yet this unsolicited call came through. When I called back with my number hidden, the message said this was not a number in use. I have blocked this number and recommend everyone to block it.
