Received phone call yesterday from Telstra supposedly..this guy who gave his name told us that he could fix our line which had in fact been dropping out so initially thought it was ridgy didge but then went on to say that if we paid $500 a month or $1,800 a lifetime he would fix the problem, when my husband refused he got very nasty & told him he would cut us off. At this point my husband hung up...a scam ...beware

Anti-hacking software (scam call) (Scam call) reported by Jeff W
A heavily-accented Asian female called claiming to represent Telstra advising that all my Telstra services were bugged through my modem and I needed anti-hacking software, but I sensed a scam when I asked her what sort of service I have with Telstra and she selected the most popular, but wrong one. I asked for her number to ensure this was in fact Telstra, and she said she was in Brisbane on 731800614 which, upon research, proved to be a scam number... beware!

My father was sold anti-hacking software but it was a scam & they ended up taking $600 initially & then $5k. They gave this QLD phone number as a way of convincing him that it was an Australian owned business. I called this number & it diverts to an OS line which proports to be a Telstra helpline, which it clearly isn’t. The scam has been reported to NAB.
