Indian scammers (Scam call) reported by Yuyi
Woman with strong Indian accent, claiming to work for the financial department of the Australian Federal government, wanting to return money that I was overcharged in various accounts and transactions. This was for the amount of $6325, she asked for my date of birth and I had to call to the mentioned phone number. No way Jose this is a big Indian scam.

Hello Telstra (Scam call) reported by Freedom Fighter
Scammed the same as other contributors. The Sydney telephone number is diverted to India. I have one question. How come Telstra puts everybody through hell to get a telephone number but they seem to still issue (and allow them to keep) numbers for obvious scammers. My suggestion is for anyone scammed to sue Telstra or the Australian Government Telecommunications authorities for allowing the communications infrastructure to be used as a carriage to commit crimes.

These people claim to be from the Australian Federal Government Reclaim Australia and will tell you they have worked out that you were overcharged and will get a refund cheque (mine was $6325). I was originally contacted on No Caller ID and had to call this number to speak to the original caller's supervisor to have the cheque issued. They seemed to already know all my personal details but it was when they asked me to pay a small amount in a lawyer's fee that I hung up.

I haven't found any ratings for this number somewhere else on internet resources, which should be a good sign... Does someone have some experience with this one? Was trying also different formats of this number, but no luck. On the other hand I am not the only one searching for this number as can be seen from different pages... Does anyone know who might be calling?

8 January 2016 - It is a scam. People with Indian accents claiming to work for the Australian Taxation Office offering a refund due to being overcharged with your utility bills. They are attempting to get your personal details: Full name, address, date of birth.

They already have your name and address from the telephone directory. They then ask you for your Date of Birth and Banking details (if you elect to receive via cheque, they will ask you to nominate your preferred Bank).
Smells like they gearing up for Identity Fraud (to gain access to your bank account).
