It should be noted that the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) are separate entities. The RFSA provides support for RFS staff and volunteers. This number is used by a call centre that sells raffle tickets on behalf of the RFSA. As far as I can make out they are real tickets in a real raffle with real prizes, so not actually a scam. Things get a bit blurry when the caller doesn't make it entirely clear which entity is running the raffle. The RFSA is a registered charity, but is not entitled to receive tax-deductible gifts so, if you choose to donate instead of buying raffle tickets, you still can't claim a tax rebate. Even so, you might want to look them up and decide whether it is a cause that is worthy of your support. Whatever you decide, you might not want to reward the overly insistent (bordering on harassing) behaviour of their call centre.

I was stupid enough years ago to accept a raffle ticket. Now they try contact me all the time off different numbers. I block all of them. This particular number has tried to call me every single day for almost 2 months. I get missed call text messages. Driving me mental.

I got a call from this number asking for donations for the RFS, and as I said ok he asked for credit card details over the phone, then he said or you could do it via b-pay or some other crap, because i was sus I asked is there anywhere online these paymemts are recieved ect.. said rfs website than hang up.

I replied that I would prefer to just make a donation instead. The caller asked for my credit card details, but I replied that I prefer him to send me a link for me to follow to make the donation. I became suspicious when he repeatedly insisted I should give him my credit card details over the phone when, because it would be quicker, and lower in administration cost, & the RFS can access the money more quickly to buy more fire fighting equipment etc.
