AMEX Credit Card Sales - did not have my company info (Financial services) reported by


Caller claimed to be an AMEX Credit Card sales person wanting to give my company a credit card because we have customers who use AMEX. The caller had my personal mobile phone number and company name, but did not have my email address or title. Perhaps a scam or phishing attempt? I hung up.

Voice message left saying call AMEX on 1300 number about my travel booking. I do have a travel booking, but, if this is a legitimate call about it from AMEX, they should message me with details. After reviewing other reports, I am more suspicious that this is not a legitimate call about my booking.

Asked if we accepted American Express payments. I asked why, and the female told me that she was calling on behalf of a someone we dealt with. I asked who, as it didn't seem legit. She said "the trustee for manly". I told her that our company doesn't accept credit card payments and she hurried off the phone. Liar.

Voicemail said it was American Express - lost and stolen cards division. Gave me the option of pressing a number depending on who I wanted to speak with, but I hung up at that point. I don't have an Amex, and never have, so I'm betting it's probably a scam call.
