This was AMEX Fraud Service querying a USD charge on my card, which was legitimate, but due to it being an unusual transaction, they wanted my personal confirmation it was OK to approve. GREAT SERVICE!

This was American Express calling me after I tried to make a purchase with DoNotPay.com. Although my purchase was legitimate the card number was Rejected by the merchant (I was assuming because it was a Non US Credit Card) however they still did try and bill my card). American Express (which I have 2 accounts with), called me right away to alert me to the what seemed fraudulent. This is their legitimate Fraud Number. Often American Express have Call Centers in India, The Philippines as well as the United States and Australia. Just because the number comes up as an Australian based Area Code it’s usually transferrr to the location where they have a Center open.

Scam call! Spoofed Caller ID. Caller purports to be from American Express. Call is actually originating from an Indian scam call centre. Do not disclose or 'confirm' any personal or financial information. Do not give details of your IP address. Never download any software or allow remote access to your devices.

AMEX scam (Scam call) reported by Mary Quite Contrary
This is so far from legitimate it's not funny. The sheer amount of scammers reporting this number as AMEX is baffling. I don't have AMEX - but the woman on the other end of the line couldn't seem to digest I have never and will never have an AMEX card!! So how can it be legitimate?!! I think the scammers are leaving comments to legitimise their scam and people are falling for it. Be warned!
