Just spoken with my local Whanganui store before answering the call (should they call again). Specsavers NZ have contracted a Sydney base call centre to call customers who are overdue on their next appointment. Annoying, yes, but is a genuine call.

I am in NZ and call was from Australia. Person said I was due for an eye check-up. I receive reminders from SpecSavers by post or email. SpecSavers have never rung me before and I would expect if they did it would be from within NZ. The number also called me three times, never leaving a message when I didn't answer. Person in the other end of the line was not Australian. Person hung up abruptly when I said I didn't want to make an appointment.

I was suspicious of the origination of the call and had difficulty hearing it clearly as it was seeingly a bad line. Lady was hard to understand but seemed she was calling to say my eyes needed testing again...... last test was 2 years ago ........ didn't make sense to me as I had cataracts operation and follow ups for that were from a NZ number which I know and I have completed that a few months ago OK and did not expect any more calls. She suddenly hung up.

Caller (she?) spoke softly and indistinctly. I asked her to identify their organization and when I didn't clearly hear it, asked her to spell it. When I still couldn't hear what was being spoken, I said I would put my hearing aids in. At this stage the call was terminated
