Bogus Government Research Survey (Nuisance call) reported by


13/June/2022 - Received a call from 0386395130 from someone identifying themself as "Johnson" and claiming to be doing a Government Research Survey. As it was after 6pm, and also a Public Holiday, times when most all Australian Government agencies would certainly have been shut, it immediately alarmed me as I felt it could only be a scam. So I said nothing and just hung up!

After missing a few calls, I called back. The recorded message said to leave my number and it would get removed from their database. I did so, even pressed hash as instructed. The following evening I get a call again, I answer. Guy starts on his spiel. I tell him I'd left the number to get removed and he told me I was mistaken, that's not how that works, they don't offer that kind of service, and generally treated me like I was ignorant. Tried calling back the other number they offer in the recorded message, it plays the SAME message where it says to call that number. Snakes chasing their tails. I can't even put in a complaint but I really wanted to!
