ATO threatening lawsuit scam (Scam call) reported by


Robotic voice,did not provide their name. Voice stated that there was a lawsuit being filed under my name, and that if I did not call back then they would send out a warrant for my arrest. Investigated this via web and ABC reported on this, can confirmed that it is a scam.

Call says theyre from the ATO and will issue arrest warrant if I didnt return their call. Called back and told him I worked for the ATO (which I dont) and demanded to know what department he was from, couldnt answer so I told him I was reporting the number to AFP. Phone line went dead. Reported to the ACCC scam watch.

Recorded voice with American accent pretending to be the ATO. (Scam call) reported by


Phone call purporting to be from a Victorian number on a Victorian public holiday. When I answered I encountered a recorded voice message from a voice using an American style accent claiming to be the ATO. As I'm aware of this particular scam doing the rounds lately, I hung up before I heard whatever threat was coming. Known scam trying to trick people into thinking they are the Australian Tax office.

Call came through saying it was from MELBOURNE but as it was MELBOURNE cup day I was suspicious so let it go to voice mail. Came through as a message so checked it. 30 of dead air. Automated calling is my gut feeling.
