PERSISENT SCAM CALLER RANG TWICE IN ONE DAY (Scam call) reported by Carrie
Dont let these guys scam you. claim to be from telstra.... rang twice in 1 hr and persisted that my internet was infected even though i am with optus cable not telstra. even transferred me to a senior technician who didnt even know what return phone number to give apart from the other guy calling out in the background!! wouldnt let me get off the phone....persisted for me to turn on my computer......until i hung up in their ear.

Received call from "Jack" from "Telstra technical department", with a lot of background noise and strong Indian accents. He claimed that my computer was causing problems, and that he needed me to turn it on and he would guide me through the "repairs". I asked where he was calling from, and at first he said "234 Exhibition St Victoria 3000 in Melbourne". Funny, because that's actually the comedy club! I hung up, and they called back many times. The address changed to 334 Exhibition St (which is a park), then finally to 242 (which actually IS a Telstra shop and conference centre). The name of the caller changed from Jack to Peter Smith. When I challenged what they were saying, they would routinely ask if I could hear them (but I was careful not to say yes in case they recorded it and used it) and then start saying hello repeatedly. Obviously a scam.

A woman (Nikki W* - but heavy accent) called claiming to be from Telstra. Said my system was causing all sorts of problems and that Telstra was going to have to cut my internet service unless they were allowed to access my system to 'clean it up". Gave me a CLSID to check for on my system and then talked me through accessing the Command Prompt to run a command ASSOC. Tried to tell me it was a password but it obviously wasnt. I told her I would research the information. She rang back 3 hours later and once again tried to put the scare into me. Once I told her I didn't care and if necessary I would format my system and rebuild it from scratch she hung up abruptly. I work in the IT industry and I found the call to be one of the best phone scams I have come across. I reckon most people will be caught as it was very believable.

Noisy Indian call center claiming that my computer had a virus. Calling on behalf of Telstra in Exhibition Street. Claimed that my IP address would be blacklisted by them if my computer wasn't accessed and fixed by them! Scam if ever I heard one. Is Telstra doing something about this?

claimed to be from a Telstra tech call centre (very noisy) and a Telstra tech was working on our internet connection and saw our computer was putting our viruses so he needed to talk me through clearing the virus. Really interesting that our malware/protection system was running a full scan right at that time and found nothing. I said not convenient at the moment so asked for name and number for me to call back later. Gave me 03 9015 4316 and "James Williams' which was nothing like the name he announced at the start of the call in his broad Indian accent. Clear scam so beware.

We get these calls at least 7 times a week always telling us about our Telstra internet connection . Telstra should start finding these scammers and prospecting them, I'm sick to dead of these Indians calling themselves Aussie names when they have the broadest India accent.

Confirmed with Telstra that this was a scam (Scam call) reported by Tish
Received a call from a very noisy call center advising they were from Telstra and that my Computer had a virus resulting in my internet being slow. The number they called from was 020152234336 I know full well that there is no Virus as the device was scanned only a few hours earlier and not been used since. (Yes internet is slow but that is nothing unusual). I asked the person (Allan F*) for a call back number and he gave me this number 03 90154316. I then contacted Telstra to confirm if there was an issue and if the number was associated with them. I was advised that no this was a scammer trying to get access to my Personal information.

I also had a guy called "Alan" from telstra from this number exactly same description as you. Called twice in 1 hr. why cant telstra shut these scammers down?
