I personally find this funny because I haven’t ever needed to pay taxes yet because of my disability and yet they randomly choose me to call. Yep, okay, come arrest me, mate. Have fun holding that up in court and then having to pay me for wasting my time and causing me massive anxiety....

Got a call, answered and a american/phillipino voice recording says 'hello, this is the australian tax office..." not sure what came after as i hung up. I called the number back, a female with an accent answered 'australian tax office investigation' - i said, i have had a missed call from this number, she says 'we need you to confirm your details, name, surname and Dob, so i can see why someone called you' to which i replied, 'well, i would,but how do i know if this call is legit as there is a tax scam call going around' she said 'go and check the number if you like' and that was it. Googled the no, and i find many others have been called by this no t today claiming to be various tax depts. Don't trust this one folks

Scam ATO Fraud Arrest (Scam call) reported by


Called and left a voicemail, called back. Asked me for information on my tax agent. Said you have an outstanding liability of $7800. I eventually said ATO doesn't call like this. What's your reference number, I'll call ATO. Said take a lawyer to the nearest police station. Fraud. Called the local police station. They mentioned it was a fraud. Now just saw that the same number has called other people as well.

I got the same call today too, asked me to confirm my details when i called back and i said i wasn't comfortable giving my details as there is a known tax office scam goibg around, and she said to me to go and look up the number to confirm if it was a scam or not and hung up

Automatic voice recording, didn't addressed my name, stating that they're a partnered firm and requested a call immediately or they'll issue an arrest warrant, still not addressing any details of my identity or why they've called. Long pause till voicemail cut them off.
