An older lady called. Said she was from the "information network". Wouldn't elaborate on who they were, just that they were calling on behalf of the government. Contacting people under 60 who owned their homw, or were paying a mortgage. Wouldn't say how they got my number. I hung up when she refused to answer who she was calling from

Australian Information Service - Financial Information Scammer (Scam call) reported by


Caller was a middle aged male from the Australian Information Service, seeking personal details around housing, employment and age. This is an orgnisation that continues to softly approach people on a seemingly inoccuous basis, but is very obviously a private organsiation doing phising. They are very persistent. I have received these same phising phone calls for over 16 years and now reocgnise the script and tell them to remove me form their list (they don't ever...they wait 3-6 months and will call again). If you give them any information at all they will seek to take money from you. This is a very very very dangerous phising scam and they have been around for nearly 20 years and continue to scam people. We really need to government to chase them down and shut them down. I personnally have reported them to ACCC Scamwatch and urge any and all to do the same.
