Fake Telstra scammers (Scam call) reported by Tom
Call from a private number, fake Telstra employee saying we had been downloading unintentioanlly scam software and our connection was to be cut off - we are with iinet actually :) played along and had a bit of a laugh at their expense but got this number out of them before I put them on hold for about 15 minutes. Very strong Indian accent reading from script, said her name was Annie Wells or something similar. Reported number to Telstra scams.

Called our home phone so my partner (who isn't very technical!) gave her my work number and she did actually call me at work. She said the websites we were visiting were generating a lot of errors and when I said I couldn't get to the laptop right now she gave me the same name, phone number and Telstra employee number. After I hung up I called the number and after ringing for quite a long time a man with an Indian accent answered with "Thank you for calling Telstra technical support" blah blah so I hung up. I spoke to Telstra who confirmed that phone number is not in service - scam

I asked for her employee no She said DT8600 and I was having issues with my internet and wanted my details. I said I would check with Telstra and call back.

Had the same caller yesterday - called our home phone so my partner (who isn't very technical!) gave her my work number. Caller identified herself as Jenny ... from Telstra (Scam call) reported by Mathew
Caller identified herself as Jenny ... from Telstra technical support. She gave me a staff number of DT78600 and said she was from the broadband department. They have been experiencing technical issues in the area and could I provide her with some details. I called Telstra direct and they have no staff member with these details nor would they call an Optus customer seeking technical support as Optus own their own cable network.
