got a call from this number saying that they are from telstra and that our ip address has been hacked and that our internet will be off for 3 months so that it can be fixed. they wanted me to turn my computer on which i refused to do. I then asked for a number so that i can call them back.

i had a telephone call on 1st June about 2pm QLD TIME .Got this company ring me, saying i was entitled to compensation for the accident i had been involved in with my family, they received information about the accident , asked how he got my number he could not give me a straight answer.He also said he could not call me later when my husband was home because of the time difference of Half an hr in SYDNEY , I know there is no time difference at the moment.He wanted my car rego details and report number so i told him i would call back once i had found these .He spoke with a strange accent difficult to understand .The Company he said was SYDNEY CLAIMS LAWYERS in NEWCASTLE and gave me his name of STEVE JOHNSON ON TEL 0280067578 ..... I have since reported this to the local Police and Scam watch at www.scamwatch.gov.au This page helped me to confirm my suspicions about this person

Got this company twice last night, no-one in our home has had an accident in the last 2 years, told him I was an ex police officer and would be chasing him up, no more calls.

We have a private number. And this person was determined to keep me talking about an incident. I have no idea what they wanted and he will " just keep ringing me" after I told him I could see he was from overseas and I was not interested.

Yes. Our number is silent as well and on the do not call register. we have had this number for almost 2 years and were assured it was a dormant number for sometime previously. These people ask for varying names that aren't ours or even known to us.
