Caller left a messages saying they were from the AtO and a warrant was out for my arrest. Utter rubbish

The caller said he was from the ATO and that I have a Tax Evasion claim made against me. He said I should ring back if I didn't want the police turning up to with a warrent for my arrest. I left it to my answering machine and looked up the number and came to this website to confirm it was a scam.

ive just come home and my daughter is in panick mode because this idiot left the same message. what a prick i cant wait until it comes through when im home. if you call the number back it just automatically disconnects. this has made me so angry . does this person really think we are that dumb . local police will arrest me over tax defiantly not from australia and doesnt know how our government works , between state and federal .

scam. I called back even though I knew it was fake just so i could talk quietly then set off a personal alarm in their ear. That's 1 scammer with a headache and possibly deaf in 1 ear for a while.

Let this call go answering machine. The caller said he was from the ATO and that I have a Tax Evasion claim made against me. Block it. Pure scam, "This call is from the Australian Taxation Office..." or similar. No, it isn't. People be aware, can be a robocaller or a live person behind it, this kind of scam mostly originates from USA, where this type of scam (someone calling on behalf of IRS - Internal Revenue Service, similar to ATO - Australian Taxation Office, https://www.ato.gov.au/) is very common. Block it, report it - police department is already checking this activity. Also, all ATO numbers begin with 13.
