They know my name and keep asking me to confirm my details , and they say if I dont want to give any details they won't tell me the purpose calling for, I reply to say I don't owe anything in my AGL account. I won't give you any my details, then they hang up the line. ****.

3rd Party Dept Collector (Debt collector) reported by


I called the number back and went through to AGL. I spoke to first agent whom said this number wasn't theirs. I was forwarded on to customer feedback whom confirmed it was one of their numbers from debt collector. I was comfortable that he was legit as he was able to lock up my details (I trusted him as I called them). I gave them feedback as my phone identified the the number as a potential scam and when the debt collector would not give me ANY information about may account I would not give him my DOB/Address. A simple reminder to pay the bill is all that is require. I had forgotten since we now pay monthly instead of every quarter. It is a real problem, how to develop trust between customer and companies.

I received the call from AGL to talk to me about my services. The woman new my first name, she said that this call was being recorded for ...etc. basically sounded the part. she then asked me to confirm my details, she requested my BOB and address at which point I asked her what she wanted to talk about. She said that she could not discuss the details until I verify my credentials, I then said, “I’m not asking for the detail, I just want to know what it’s about … theme/ category” She again said she could not discuss the details to what I replied with “I’m uncomfortable giving you my details if you can tell what this is about” Then she said “well! Then you’ll have to call us”, I said that was fine and when I asked her for the phone number she panicked, screamed and hung up. Ps: I’m not an AGL customer, that was my first clue ????

Called on this exact number saying they were AGL wanted to talk too me about my services . He knew my first name, but wanted me to confirm my details to him (surname to him !! I said , you called me you tell what my details are and what services we have with AGL. (We only have gas with them not electricity). He must be very new at it (or just a very bad scammer ) he got flustered and for me to ring AGL if I had any issues . He could not get off the phone fast enough. This was an unusual one in that there was no background noise,but really weird that it was a landline. Don’t give them any information!!!

There was a long pause after answering the phone. Wanted to know my personal details for my agl account. I was suspicious straight up and you could hear their frustration when I didn't just hand it over. I said they could email me but it couldn't be done till i verified my account. They said if I thought it was a scam call to call agl and discuss there.

First I received a recorded message saying Amazon prime incorrectly charged me $79 and if I wanted a refunded I should stay on the line and speak to an operator. I knew it was a scam because I don’t have an Amazon account and even if I did I still would know it’s a scam. I stayed on the line to hear how the scammer is gonna try and scam someone. He wanted me to get on my computer so he could send me a link that I would then click that would then give him access to my computer without me realising it. Do not engage with these people. They are very dangerous and the moment I called him out I was called all kinds of names.

They phoned me. Demanded I hand over personal information or my gas would be disconnected within the hour. The BIG joke is: I phoned them two weeks ago to disconnect and they still didn’t do it. My house is being demolished tomorrow. Hahaha! What a stroke of luck.
