I moved in to apartment 12 months ago. This mob did the safety inspection. Great (but disorganised and unessecary middle man means communication break downs, poor tenants left waiting). These parasites at Detector Inspector haven't stopped calling since. Call centre staff overseas don't even know why they are calling you. You tell them job is done, but these human robots are programmed to keep calling anyway. I block continuously, but then they call from another number. I've told real estate that this is severe harassment. DI still call twice a week. What happened to the tenants right to quiet enjoyment of the property? Ombudsman time.

Very irritating. Calls every day, even after visiting the home several times. All this to put in smoke detectors. It's an elaborate scam!! Steer clear or move to a place that doesn't use this service.

This company visits for smoke alarm checks too often and are very annoying. Nuisance calls frequently and they make a lot of mistakes, like messing up the house, installing alarms in the wrong places and the wrong kinds, leaving their mess behind for me to clean up, and phoning incessantly.

Yes they are annoying and only need to come once a year as stated by legislation not any more than that.they had wrong measurements written down for an built in appliance:a bit poor.

They texted me to say an appointment had been made via my estate agent to have my smoke detector serviced. Thinking this must have been arranged by owner of my flat, I thought it must be ok. However the date they gave did not suit me and I rang to make another appointment. I later spoke to flat owner, who said he had not authorised the inspection, and said to cancel it, which I did.

First the scam real estate agents and landlord by using smoke alarm regulation against them threatening to dob them in for not having their smoke alarms checked (they usually do have them checked), then they harass the tenants. I have had 50 calls in the last 7 months since I have moved to my property, despite having told these parasites more than once to stop calling, the smoke alarm was done with the Vic govt new law on electrical inspections at the beginning of a tenancy, and I have also told my real estate agent the same thing, yet they still ring. Illegal calls made everyday, I work in telemarketing so IK know full well the laws and policies and these leeches break several of these laws.

They can be threatening, remember if you pay money to rent a place, you're entitled by law to 'peaceful enjoyment' of the property you rent. If you're getting spam calls (i.e. everyday) from Detector Inspector, contact your landlord and ask them to stop or you'll leave. Simple. Don't expect the property manager to care - they get $$ commissions from Detector Inspector for selling the service to the landlord. Tell them to remove Detector Inspector's service or you will make a private arrangement directly with the landlord and cut out the property manager altogether!

Legitimized scam with somewhat questionable tactics. Tenants or Landlord alike, BEWARE! This is not a legitimate business transaction- do not allow this business to make you believe they need to check your fire alarms/smoke detectors, don’t give any private information to them. If it was a legitimate transaction they would have your information from the real estate, & you’d be expecting their call. Don’t speak to them believe you me any transaction requests that are required will always be actioned first through your real estate agent directly to you if you are a renter. This is a fairly clever scam I believe because it seems somewhat legitimate initially until you realise it’s not.

Detector Inspector. The pushiest marketing strategies ever!!!. Working for real estates and absolutely rip the landlord off. Will make any excuse to come and check or replace the smoke detectors. They've been to this place 4 times in 1 year when they only needed to come once. 2 smoke alarms here. Replaced both, 1 at a time, then wanted to service both, 1 at a time. 4 visits, Ridiculous. They love their callout fees. I tell them to **** of and told the real estate agent they're getting conned and the charges to the landlord aren't fair. They're calling me again after they were here 2 months ago. So sick of this company.

It is government legislation to check electricity, gas and smoke detectors for rental properties at landlords expense. And to fix what's necessary to the standards. Those 3 checks alone are already 3 visits, and additional visits for repairs. Every tenant needs to do it not just you. Landlord can be in serious penalty if they dont follow the laws. And you'll be a bad tenant if you make them in that situation.

You literally do not have a clue how these laws work, all properties are subject to an inspection prior to moving in and smoke alarms are done by an electrician, not a hack from a scam company exploiting legislation. Also, yes they do make money off each visit.

Totally agree. Any real estate using these guys are lazy and don't care for the landlord. They will charge $150 to come in and fart on the smoke alarm then leave within 2 minutes. Any excuse. It's a disgrace.

Smoke detector inspectors. My first communication from them advises they had a persistent team which I found rude from the offset. Ignored the first calls, but received 2 texts and an email. Emailed twice advising I do not live at the property and they need to contact the real estate. They confirmed they had removed me. ONE WEEK LATER I get a call so I answer and advised them to stop their harassment as I had an email confirming so get your lists in order.

This company rips off landlords by wanting unnecessary maintenance (serviced less than 3 months ago, now constantly calling to do "additional maintenance") and annoys tenants with persistent, harassing phone calls. Will never sign another lease if this company is involved.

They are running a legitimized scam, threatening landlords with compliance to new legislation with they themselves put in multiple submissions to fair trading to have these laws changed (i have read the submissions) then excessively call or harrass tenants , often with no knowledge of the landlord. Will then force landlord to comply or will report. Really smart and really unethical

I thought this was a scam at first and kept hanging up. Doesn't help that they are a bit too forceful. I asked them to call our property manager and make a request directly through her which they did and she confirmed they are legitimate. If you do not get your smoke alarms checked when leasing in VIC you are liable if there is a fire.

The worst company. I am a tenant and they hound call and hassle. When you call back they say that they have to transfer you and you are on hold for up to an hour before talking to someone else that doesn't know what is happening. They call all day and night and are impossible to get a hold of the section you are meant to. I ended up calling the realestate I rent through and told them that I will no longer be talking to them and all appointments must be organised through the realestate and not me.

They are trying to push coming into my rental during a stage 4 lockdown quoting its legal under safety reasons. They cannot come until you book a time with them. I have sternly told them no, its not safe for my family. They have put the appointment " on hold " to call me back in October. Until that time, I'm more than capable of testing the smoke alarms myself.

Forcibly insistent on service, even after I had said I was waiting on covid results and my landlord clearly stated all services were on cease for the month (May) Been harassed ever since.. already been 3 times and keep booking further services, often unknown to real estate. Just really bodgy
