I thought this was a scam at first and kept hanging up. Doesn't help that they are a bit too forceful. I asked them to call our property manager and make a request directly through her which they did and she confirmed they are legitimate. If you do not get your smoke alarms checked when leasing in VIC you are liable if there is a fire.

The worst company. I am a tenant and they hound call and hassle. When you call back they say that they have to transfer you and you are on hold for up to an hour before talking to someone else that doesn't know what is happening. They call all day and night and are impossible to get a hold of the section you are meant to. I ended up calling the realestate I rent through and told them that I will no longer be talking to them and all appointments must be organised through the realestate and not me.

They are trying to push coming into my rental during a stage 4 lockdown quoting its legal under safety reasons. They cannot come until you book a time with them. I have sternly told them no, its not safe for my family. They have put the appointment " on hold " to call me back in October. Until that time, I'm more than capable of testing the smoke alarms myself.

Forcibly insistent on service, even after I had said I was waiting on covid results and my landlord clearly stated all services were on cease for the month (May) Been harassed ever since.. already been 3 times and keep booking further services, often unknown to real estate. Just really bodgy

In my case Detector Inspector were engaged by my rental property manager to check my smoke detectors, so for me it's legit. They also text a link to book in via their website, which I've done and so far all that's happened is a guy showing up to press buttons/replace out of date smoke detectors. If you're renting and this might be why they're calling but you're in doubt, give your property manager a call - they should know.

A company called Detector Inspector. They'll harrass you until you use their organisation. You'll need to block several numbers in order to get them to stop. Or, alternatively, tell them that they're not getting your business.

A smoke detector and appliance testing company that some estate agencies rely on (through contract), although they tend to harrass members of the public via their call centre, as well as those already on a limited contract. Continual spam calls. They also use other phone numbers which are variations of this one, so blocking them isn't always effective. If it isn't in your agency contract to deal with them, don't answer. If it is in your contract and they try to push more 'services', check with your agent/landlord if it's legit, as they try to drum up extra business with nuisance calls. Their contractors are not the most competent, but the real problem is the aggressive marketing of their call centre.

Do yourself a favor, dont answer. Under the guise of a smoke detector inspection company, they called me trying to gain access into my property. I called back again using another phone number and they were asking which service i was after and if they can have my credit card details they could further assist me. Indian call centre trying to make fraudulant money.

They left two voicemails, 1 day apart, and the person on the voicemails sounds like a white Australian. Except, they're the exact same message, it's just a recording they do to entice you to call back. Call centre is based in the Philippines apparently and they aren't subject to Australian privacy laws, so who knows where your info goes next? The last time smoke detector people came by, they installed 2 extra alarms, in the weirdest locations, one next to another one that was perfectly functional, and another one that fell onto my partner's head because it was so poorly installed. That one was in a spot that makes me concerned it houses a camera, because this would have given a very wide view of the multiple living areas, but that's just speculation, of course. This time round, ow they're calling again, I decided to refuse to answer. If my REA has a problem with that, they'll let me know directly. So far, the only one contacting me is Detector Inspector, and they call and text collectively about 5-10 times a day. They've been doing this for 3 months straight, and my REA hasn't once contacted me about why I haven't answered their calls. I highly doubt the REA had anything to do with them. I genuinely suspect this may be a scam, casing the place for valuables or something like that. If it's required by law, your REA will definitely be proactive about your compliance. They wouldn't wait 3 months or more to check that that went ahead. Surely.

after having made the appointment to inspect in writing over a month in advance they did not show up on the day , they also claimed in the letter that they had the landlords permission and a set of keys to let themselves in, they made numerous phone calls in the week leading up to the inspection date, god only knows what they are charging the landlord for this " service " ???
