This caller called my mobile and used my name and stated that I had been in a car accident. Which I have not I said I had not and he then stated well someone in your family must have been as I have all your details

A person name Steven J, but with Indian Accent called and tried to tell me that I was named in the report from the road safety council of Australia. He knew my phone number, address, and my surname. I was unsure whether it is a scam or not, so I asked my full name on the report he has (because I usually use my English name when I sign up online) and he only knew my English name. Yea, it's a scam. But it was unusual that he know not only my name and mobile number but also know where I live. I wonder where the information leaked from.

Tried to tell me that I was named in an accident by the road safety council of Australia, in the last 2 years. Knew where I lived and my number. Said they were trying to help the victims of the accident claim compensation. I was never involved in a car accident. So was unusual that they had my name and where I lived. Googled road safety council of Australia and there is no such website.
